Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is a chronic and progressive optic neuropathy with an open anterior chamber angle, characterized by increased intraocular pressure (IOP) and visual field defect. Various studies have linked myopia as a significant factor in the development of POAG. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between myopia and the incidence of POAG at Dr. M. Djamil Hospital, Padang in 2020-2022. This study was an analytical study with a retrospective approach and cross sectional design. The sampling technique of this study was quota sampling technique and the total sample size was 40 patients. The data obtained were analyzed with the Chi-square test. POAG was dominated by the age group ≥ 40 years (52.5%), female gender (55%), patients without family history (85%) or any history of systemic disease (90%), with the most common systemic disease found was diabetes mellitus (5%). The majority of patients were high school graduates (57.5%) and students (30%). Myopia was more common in juvenile glaucoma patients (22.5%) and the most common type of myopia in POAG patients was moderate myopia (15%). Chi-square test showed a significant association between myopia and primary open-angle glaucoma (OR = 5.400, p = 0.023). There was a significant association between myopia and primary open-angle glaucoma.
