Abstract

Chronic pain experienced by elderly individuals with osteoarthritis often leads to discomfort in performing various daily activities. One of the efforts to alleviate this issue is the application of warm compresses at a temperature of 40℃ when pain arises. This study aims to describe the implementation of warm compress therapy for knee pain in osteoarthritis. The research method used is a case study design with a nursing care approach, which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved two elderly participants diagnosed with osteoarthritis, conducted over a period of six days using nursing interventions based on SIKI (2018). The results showed a decrease in the knee pain scale from mild-moderate to mild. The warm compress intervention was applied for 20–30 minutes at a temperature of 40℃. Conclusion and Recommendation: Warm compress application in osteoarthritis patients can help reduce knee pain from a mild-moderate scale to a mild level. It is expected that the findings of this study can be applied in clinical settings and motivate patients to independently and routinely perform this intervention whenever pain occurs.
