Abstract

Family Planning (KB) is a program designed to regulate the number of children in a community while helping to improve parents’ reproductive health. One of the key objectives of Family Planning is to assist Community Health Centers (PUS) in planning the number of children and the spacing between births, which ultimately benefits the health of both mothers and infants. One area where FP coverage has not yet reached its target is in East Kotawaringin Regency, where the 2024 target is 66.59%, particularly in the Ketapang 1 Community Health Center (Puskesmas) service area, where the 2024 target is 60%. Although this target has increased, it is still far from the national FP coverage target of 70–80%. The community service method involved conducting a pre-test in the service area of the Ketapang I Community Health Center in Kotawaringin Timur Regency in collaboration with village midwives, Posyandu cadres, and local neighborhood association (RT) representatives. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in knowledge regarding PUS after the education session—rising to 83,3% from 36,7% prior to the session. This community service initiative demonstrates that community-based education can serve as an effective form of health education in promotive and preventive efforts to support family planning programs.
